Day 1 Friday: Anchorage

Arrive in Anchorage. Complimentary transfer to your hotel in downtown Anchorage. Spend the rest of the day with sightseeing activities in and around Alaska's largest city: take a hike along the coastal trail with sweeping views of Mt. McKinley and Mt. Susitna aka: the "Sleeping Lady" - shop for Alaska Native Art, or spend some time at a museum. Try some fresh Alaska seafood (salmon, halibut and dungeness crab) for dinner in one of the many excellent restaurants around the hotel. During February and March Anchorage hosts the annual Fur Rendezvous, Ice Carving Festivals, the Iditarod Sled Dog Race and great Winter events. Overnight: Anchorage

Day 2 Saturday: Anchorage - Fairbanks

Transfer to the Anchorage rail station and departure at 8:30 am for a very scenic full-day rail tour to Fairbanks. The seats are pre-reserved and the staff takes care of your entire luggage. Enjoy the ride ! You'll get fantastic and breathtaking views of the snow covered Alaska Mountain Range with its towering 20.320 feet high Mt. McKinley. You will pass Talkeetna and Denali National Park before arriving in Fairbanks in the evening at 8:00 pm. Transfer and check into your hotel. Fairbanks provides some spectacular and outstanding Northern Lights viewing (Aurora Borealis) opportunities. Remaining evening at leisure. Overnight: Fairbanks

Day 3 Sunday: Fairbanks

This morning you have time to visit the Alaska University Museum with the States largest collection of gold nuggets, gold mining history and Alaskan heritage artifacts and the nearby Geophysical Institute - recognized as the best in the world for its Aurora Borealis research activities. If you travel during February or March - Fairbanks hosts the World Ice Art Championships, exciting professional Sled Dog Races and a variety of winter carnival activities. Explore Fairbanks and the surrounding area on this guided afternoon sightseeing tour (optional) - combining fun with Fairbanks history, Alaskan craftsmanship and Alaska winter activities. Your first stop is the Santa Claus House in North Pole where you may have a picture taken Mr. & Mrs. Claus. Continue to the Trans Alaska Pipeline viewpoint or the Yukon Quest Cabin. If you are looking for an authentic gift, then the Great Alaskan Bowl Company is the perfect place. Return to the hotel around 6 pm. This evening get ready for your aurora tour. Everning transfer at 10 pm to a prime Northern Lights viewing area in the hills about 20 miles north of Fairbanks – far away from any city lights. Enjoy spectacular 270-degree Aurora displays through large picture windows from the comfort of a heated cabin or outside. Return transfer to your hotel around 2:30 am. Overnight: Fairbanks

Day 4 Monday: Fairbanks – Chena Hot Springs

Early Afternoon: Van transfer (60 Miles) to Chena Hot Springs Resort. The Resort features a indoor thermal-pool with a large redwood outdoor deck, some indoor and outdoor hot tubs, restaurant, bar, the famous ice museum and hotel as well as a large - mineral water feed - natural rock lake. In the afternoon take a guided tour of the Aurora Ice Museum, visit a dog kennel or run your own sled dog team. Join a guided snow machine tour around the areas of the resort and have your tour guide show you the remote backcountry. Get a work out by renting cross-country skis, snowshoes or ice skates and cruise around the resort's 440 beautiful acres and scenic trails. A unique heated Aurora Viewing cabin for your pure undisturbed Northern Lights viewing enjoyment is just a short walk away from the resort. Please Note: The best Aurora Viewing starts around 10:00 pm and continuous far past midnight. Overnight: Chena Hot Springs.

Day 5 Tuesday: Chena Hot Springs

Spend this day at leisure with some exiting outdoor activities. Independent local operators are providing x-country skiing lessons and trips, a variety of sled dog tours from 30 minutes to 4 hours, wonderful sleigh rides, guided snowmobiling trips into the Chena Hills or flightseeing trips to the Arctic Circle with it's remote and authentic native villages. Alternative: just relax in the natural hot springs or take a massage to get ready for another night of breathtaking Northern Lights viewing pleasures. Tonight join the spectacular Snow Coach tour to see the aurora up close (included). From the resort you travel 30 minutes to the top of a ridge (2600 ft) where no city lights interfere the aurora. After arriving on top you can step inside the heated Mongolian Yurt to warm up and enjoy a hot beverage. For the next few hours you can always step outside and enjoy spectacular 360-degree Aurora displays. Overnight: Chena Hot Springs

Day 6 Wednesday: Chena Hot Springs - Fairbanks

After breakfast time to enjoy the Chena Hot Springs Resort facilities. Individual transfer (60 Minutes) to Fairbanks. Flight reservations to your home destination should be made anytime after 10:00 am. Please Note: all flights to/from or within Alaska are not included. Rest of the day on your own and tour extensions are readily available.
